The Lanarkshire Aquarist Society held its first open show in 1962. Shows then were held over two days.

Although not joining the FSAS when it first was formed, our members have been encouraged to take an interest in supporting the Federation.

Many of our members have become judges - Steve Naismith - grade A judge and past Show Manager of SAF (Scottish Aquarist Festival), Jimmy Goodwin - grade A judge and past President of the FSAS and SAF.and Jenn Bennett - Grade A judge and past Secretary of the FSAS and current FSAS Treasurer, and Bill Bennett - judges and Show Standards committee secretary.

Lanarkshire played an active roll in helping start the Scottish Aquarist Festival, which was held in the Motherwell Civic Centre, for many years.
Lanarkshire's trophies were used for the 1st prize giving.
