Solway Aquarist Society was founded in 1992 and most of the society members are regulars on the show circuit where they have a fair amount of success averaging around 500 tickets per season. We have two past Scottish Federation League Champions in our membership and our members are well involved in breeding with two of them having achieved the Scottish Federation 50 different species certificates. We have members who proudly posses the Scottish Federation 200 Gold Badge for first place awards and in fact have a member who has won both Scottish and the British Federation Gold Badges.

Although our membership is primarily from the Solway and Dumfries area we have members as far a field as Kirkaldy, Tranent, Fauldhouse, Largs, Macclesfield and Doncaster.

Many of our members are also involved with the Aquarian sponsored Leading Aquarist Group whose aims are similar to our Society which is to encourage and promote the hobby of fishkeeping with special emphasis on the newcomers and the youngsters.
